What to Wear:
Preschool students simply need to wear their regular Preschool class uniform with tidy hair. No makeup or additional costume items are required.
Photography and Video:
You are very welcome to take photos and videos of your child’s performance.
However, please note that:
You may only film or photograph your own child, and
Videos and photos must not be shared on social media to protect the privacy of all children and families.
Thank you for respecting this important guideline.
In-Class Preparation:
Throughout this term, we’ve been gradually helping the children adjust to performing by asking parents to step out of class. Thank you so much for supporting us with this.
From Saturday, 31st October, we kindly ask that all parents drop off their children and leave them in class so they can become comfortable being with their teachers and helpers only. We’ll let the children know that we’re preparing a special surprise for their families!
(If you have any concerns about this, please email us at admin@danceworks.co.nz.)
During the Showcase:
If your child is in more than one class, please don’t worry — our team will make sure they are prepared for each performance. We’ve been running Preschool showcases for many years, and your children will be in experienced and caring hands.
After the Showcase:
Regular classes will resume on Saturday, 22nd November, with the term concluding on Saturday, 6th December.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at admin@danceworks.co.nz.
We can’t wait to see your little stars light up the stage!
Junior/Senior Concert – Ages 5+
(No Saturday preschool classes involved in this show)
It’s hard to believe there are only weeks to go until our incredible students take the stage for A Kiwi Summer Holiday on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th December!
For many of our 250 students, the end-of-year concert is truly the highlight of their year — a chance to perform proudly for their family and friends, showcasing everything they’ve worked so hard on throughout 2025.
🎭 Regular Timetabled Classes
Regular classes will finish on Saturday 6th December.
After this date, students are only required to attend their scheduled rehearsals and show times.
⏱️ Concert Length
The full concert will run for approximately three hours, including two intervals between acts (this does not include the Awards presentation at the end).
There will be a finale involving all students to close the show.
While show week is busy, remember that there are no regular classes during this time — giving everyone a chance to rest and recharge before the big weekend!
👧 Signing In and Collection of Students
For safety reasons, all students must be signed in and out at their assigned drop-off area (details will be shared in the coming weeks).
Students are only required to be present for their scheduled acts during rehearsals, including the Technical Rehearsal.
During the Dress Rehearsal and Shows, students may be collected after they have performed — but only at the end of an act. Please advise the sign-in team if you plan to collect your child early.
Students are very welcome to return to the audience to watch the rest of the show with their family, but they will require a ticket to do so.
🎨 Backstage Information
We’re so lucky to have an amazing team of parents and staff caring for and entertaining our students backstage.
Activities include movies, colouring, and games to keep everyone happy while they wait for their turn to perform.
Parent helpers ensure hair, makeup, and headpieces are in perfect order before each performance.
Please remember:
Send your child with enough food and water for their time at the venue. (Water bottles can be refilled on site.)
Only water is permitted — no juice or soft drinks.
Do not send pens, crayons, or felts — they can easily mark costumes.
🤝 Parent Helpers
Every year we are so grateful for the wonderful parents who volunteer backstage to help students stay organised, calm, and ready to shine.
If you’d like to assist, keep an eye out for our upcoming call for helpers!
